At M Group Telecom, we’re enabling and enhancing telecom networks, playing a lead role in the delivery of our tech enabled future.

We deliver full network cycle services for fixed, private and mobile operators.

Private networks- We find the best technology, manage assets and refresh systems. With 24/7 network operations, we keep things running smoothly, while operating comprehensive network repair and maintenance to keep everything in top shape.

What will you be doing?

Magdalene is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Transmission Technical Support Engineer to join our Technical Support Services team, ideally located within commuting distance of our NOC in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. The role involves providing 2nd/3rd line mission-critical support to Managed Services customers, working independently and collaboratively with colleagues, the Network Operations Centre, and Field Engineering teams.
Prioritising and resolving faults within SLA
Updating customers and fault tickets regularly
Supporting NOC engineering tasks
Delivering system solutions for builds and upgrades
Offering technical consultancy for tenders
Conducting internal/external training
Participating in the emergency on-call rota

What you’ll bring?

  • 10+ years in telecoms installation, commissioning, and support
  • Expert in CWDM/DWDM fault finding (Huawei, Ekinops, Ciena, ADVA)
  • Skilled in optical/ethernet testing (BER, RFC2544, Y.1564, OSA, OTDR)
  • Strong PDH/SDH and IP networking knowledge
  • Familiar with Nokia, Keymile, Marconi systems and NMS platforms
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn
  • Confident communicator with clear written and verbal skills
  • Calm under pressure
  • Desirable: CCNA/CCNP, Network+, ITILv3/v4
