Caledonia Water (CWA) is a joint venture alliance between Aecom and Morrison Water Services (MWS), supporting the delivery of Scottish water’s SR21 Capital Investment Programme. We are responsible for the delivery of a pan Scotland £700M water and wastewater infrastructure programme over a 6-year alliance framework. Due to ongoing growth, we have exciting opportunities for an experienced MEICA Technical Author to join our growing Water Division!

Purpose

To be accountable to the MEICA Manager for the compiling of information, creation, editing and submitting a set of comprehensive works and technical manuals and documentation in accordance with the Scottish Water Manuals Data Services requirements. Working closely with inter departmental teams and the supply chain to ensure that all drawings and documents are at the correct revision and completeness. Provide technical administrative support to the MEICA project team to ensure all MEICA related documentation is produced and issued at the correct project gateways to the client and supply chain.

Project Delivery

The MEICA Technical Author role is to provide technical administration support to the CWA business in support of the delivery of Operation and Maintenance Manuals (O&Ms) at project completion (G100). To ensure the efficient delivery of all technical administration to the MEICA project elements whilst working in collaboration with all other departments associated with the provision of the O&Ms. They will be required to liaise with all project stakeholders both internally and externally in a professional manner and work progressively and consistently with other elements of the project team at all times to ensure successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Compile, create, edit and submit the works manuals, drawings and supplier documents in the correct format as required by the Scottish Water Manuals Data Services team.
  • Provide support to the CWA individual project teams to gather the correct information, carry out a technical appraisal and submit the documents to project stakeholders as required.
  • Organise and manage the MEICA technical documents to ensure that they are in the correct format and at the correct revision particular to the project status.
  • Review, edit and update CWA MEICA document content to ensure accuracy and consistency of content.
  • Liaise closely with the Scottish Water technical functions across all projects to co-ordinate the delivery of the required documents to Scottish Water in a user-friendly and timely manner.
  • Work alongside the CWA Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) department and other members of the project team and leadership to drive the successful delivery of projects to the highest standards.
  • Utilise the various software tools available within CWA and Scottish Water to ensure the technically correct documents are produced.
  • Provide support to the site technical delivery element of capital projects from conception, through design and procurement, to final handover ensuring that all technical administrative deliverables are achieved in accordance with current regulations and procedures.
  • Provide technical interpretation of technical drawings and work packages to provide accurate and concise support to the MEICA design, delivery and commissioning teams.
  • Liaise with the supply chain during project delivery and commissioning to ensure the timely receipt of testing documentation and inspection reports.
  • Provide the lead role whilst working with the Project delivery team personnel to compile, update, manage and submit project-specific documentation pertaining to the different project phases, including (but not limited to) Defect and snagging lists, test documentation, Inspection and Test Plans, Training Plans, Asset data information, red line drawing and “as built” updates.
  • Liaise with the MEICA site personnel to provide input to the MEICA Manager regarding technical appraisals of MEICA site deliverables.
  • Familiarise themselves with the MEICA standard templates produced for the CWA project documentation and use this documentation correctly.
