We are seeking an experienced Specialist Routing Engineer to join our team and assist in meeting our expanding business demands. In this role, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for configuring and provisioning a customer network crucial to the UK's infrastructure.

Your responsibilities will involve routing design, validation, and circuit writing of SDH/PDH telecommunication services on our major clients' Optical Transmission Network. These services typically range from 64Kb to 2Mb, including Ethernet over SDH, adhering to intricate routing specifications.

Working closely within a team led by a highly motivating manager, the focus will be on your potential and professional growth. Your tasks will include providing 2nd and 3rd line network engineering support at customer locations, ensuring timely communication with specialist engineers and customer personnel. It is essential to uphold SLAs, adhere to contract governance, and prioritise site health and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a part of a 2nd/3rd Line Technical Support & Delivery team focused on the complex technical delivery activities supporting specific areas of Customer Services.
  • Complex delivery in line with customer SLAs.
  • Active participation in the customers governance cycles.
  • Complex incident management (Technology and Solution based).
  • Root Cause analysis for major incidents and escalated faults.
  • Work with the other 2nd/3rd Line Support teams to establish the processes, systems and skills required to implement Solutions that are dependent on multiple technologies.
  • Assist with the definition, and embedding, of a consistent set of processes interfacing to Customer Services teams, Service Delivery (Provide/Field), Delivery Unit Operational teams, particularly Problem Management & Service Management.
  • Cooperate and contribute to a set of measures covering: Service Level Agreement (SLA), Mean Time To Restore (MTTR), Delivery On-Time (DOT) performance, Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Fault volumes, Service reliability and performance.
  • Provide an on-call presence, on a rotated basis.
  • Drive for Quality and Delivery Standards.
  • Rigorously implements plans without compromising on standards without the need for being actively managed (self-starter and finisher).
  • Passionate about end-to-end performance and the quality of service delivered to our Customers.
  • Initiates improvements to operational processes and has a can-do attitude when working in a demanding and ambiguous environment.
  • Translates business insights and strategies into specific goals with clear plans for execution.
  • Demonstrates a strong bias for action; delivering against time, quality and cost.
  • Manage Change Control through Magdalene Change governance including the production of required Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).

What we need from you:

  • Extensive experience in an operational environment, preferably in a complex technology delivery role.
  • Detailed technical knowledge of network transmission (Ericsson OMS; ABB Fox).
  • Experience with a working knowledge of Network Monitoring Centre (NMC) / Network Monitoring Systems (NMS).
  • Experience in a Control Centre working environment.
  • Transmission understanding SDH/PDH, MPLS, DWDM.
  • Routing & Ethernet experience.
  • Customer facing experience.
