We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards.     This role will join BES – we're specialists, providing a fully-integrated service to clients within the pharmaceutical, life sciences and healthcare sectors. Using our expertise to create cutting-edge cleanrooms, laboratories and other sophisticated environments. Combining design, digital innovation and construction capabilities to provide a complete multidisciplinary offering. From process engineering to structural and civil, architectural, mechanical/HVAC and electrical services.

    What will you be doing?

    We're looking for a talented Mechanical/HVAC Design Engineer to take ownership of building services design from concept through to commissioning.

    You'll work across all RIBA stages, supporting procurement, planning, and construction teams while producing detailed, compliant designs for complex validated environments including labs, cleanrooms, and manufacturing facilities.

    Your expertise in HVAC systems-ventilation, chilled water, steam, and more-will be key to delivering high-quality, coordinated solutions.

    You'll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and liaise with clients to shape tailored, efficient designs. A strong grasp of CDM regulations, ISO 9001, and HEVACOMP is essential, along with a proactive, team-focused approach.

    What you'll bring

    • HNC qualified in Building Services, ideally educated to degree level
    • HNC (ideally degree) in Building Services
    • Skilled in turnkey project design across HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems
    • Strong knowledge of air conditioning, ventilation, chilled water, LTHW, and steam
    • Familiar with IES, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools
    • Experienced in pharma and healthcare builds, especially labs and cleanrooms
    • Fully conversant with CDM and ISO 9001 standards
    • Team-focused, customer-oriented, and confident liaising with senior stakeholders
