M Group Highways
At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK. You’ll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.
What will you be doing?
- You’ll advise, guide and coach all personnel with the implementation of the Highways Business Management Systems and advise on contract and project compliance.
- Advise the project on the production, implementation and review of HSW plans, e.g. construction phase plan, depot HSW plans.
- Ensure risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are prepared and reviewed as necessary.
- Ensure the project reports all incidents in line with the incident investigation procedure on the Management system.
- Escalate significant and potentially significant incidents to HSW manager and project or contract lead immediately.
- Undertake incident investigations in line with the incident investigation procedure on the Management System and identify preventative measures to prevent similar incidents recurring, including lessons learnt.
- Maintain the incident management database, including uploading of supporting documentation and close out of actions.
- Ensure monthly HSW reports are completed and submitted, accurately and on time.
- Review contract/project HSW trends with the contract/project lead; establish and monitor any agreed improvement plans.
- Conduct HSW audits and inspections as per the schedule(s) recording findings and actions on Procore.
- Work proactively to build and maintain relationships with contractors or subcontractors, designers, suppliers, clients, enforcement agencies and other relevant parties.
- Participate in the development, review, update and rollout of HSW processes and procedures and identify and produce award submissions, e.g. RoSPA.

What you’ll bring
- Previous experience in health and safety.
- Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Technician, or Graduate membership of IOSH. It is an advantage if you are working towards chartered membership of IOSH.
- NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work, or have a MSc / PGD in Occupational Health & Safety Management or equivalent.
