Where will you be working?
We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
What will you be doing?
We’re seeking a talented Estimator to join our supportive team! No prior experience in the electricity transmission industry is required. You’ll collaborate with Bid Managers, Project Development Managers, and Pre Contract Construction Managers, working on tenders for HV substation works (M+E and civils). Your role will involve pricing and securing new contracts.
Our collaborative and inclusive work environment welcomes innovation and teamwork and day to day tasks include:
- Mentoring other estimators
- Identifying and managing project risks
- Assist bids manager with kick-off meetings and bids programme
- Collaborate with procurement and commercial departments
- Ensure and challenge project solutions during tender phase
- Analyse supply chain quotations and benchmark costs
- Prepare tender prices in Excel and review with senior management
- Prepare client pricing documents and assist with post-submission presentations
- Maintain professional relationships and implement continual improvement ideas
What you’ll bring?
- Minimum 3 years previous experience in an infrastructure estimating role (essential) or substation estimating role (desirable)
- Basic understanding of engineering/construction technology and terminology
- Ability to read and understand engineering specifications and drawings
- Basic understanding of contractual terminology
- Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
- Flexibility in terms of working hours
