Operating nationally from offices in Birmingham, Brighton, Leicester and Nottingham, we provide expert guidance for a wide range of clients.

We are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our growing team at MEC. This role can be based out of our offices in either Birmingham or Leicester. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and passionate individual to join a busy, growing team; providing transport support to help unlock development sites and deliver successful outcomes for our clients. Requirements

  • Key role responsibilities:
    • Undertake Transport Statements, Assessments and Travel Plans to support planning applications for various private sector clients;
    • Undertake the Travel Plan Coordinator role which includes producing regular updates and surveys to local residents, and annual reporting to local authorities;
    • Liaise with clients, colleagues and statutory bodies including Planning Authorities and Highway Authorities, to ensure efficient progress with project commissions;
    • Undertake junction assessments using industry standard software including JUNCTIONS, LINSIG and TRICS;
    • Follow a continued professional development/programme of training and achieve a minimum of 12 days continuing professional development (CPD) per year.

Key skills, experience and attributes required:

  • A degree or degree level – ideally in Geography, Environmental Management or Transport Planning;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint specifically) and have strong analytical skills;
  • Either have or are working towards professional membership with CIHT;
  • Organised and methodical with a keen eye for quality and the ability to solve problems effectively;
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team, and have the necessary skills and experience to work under pressure to deadlines and budgets;
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, pro-active approach and desire to develop a career in the field of Transportation, with development support;
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Transport Software (i.e. JUNCTIONS, LINSIG, TRICS);
  • Someone who will engage in our positive health and safety culture, notifying the company of any potential risks to your, or your colleagues, health, safety, and wellbeing whilst at work. Cooperate with the company by following processes and training provided on health and safety.
