Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled, passionate, and experiencedPBM & PBS Trainerto join our Learning & Development Team. This pivotal role will involve developing, delivering, and implementing Positive Behaviour Management (PBM) training aligned with the ABMU PBM Framework, while championing the wider implementation of Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) across our services.
You will play a key part in our Reducing Restrictive Practice (RRP) strategy, promote trauma-informed support, and provide consultative input to service teams. The role also includes implementing active support and supervising staff undertaking Level 4 and 5 PBS accredited courses.
Note: This role will involve travel to South, West and East Wales to support our growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accredited PBM ABMU training across residential and supported living services
- Lead PBM training and ensure fidelity to ABMU standards
- Develop and deliver active support and entry-level PBS training
- Mentor and develop new champions in key areas
- Promote values-led, consistent behaviour support aligned with PBS principles
- Facilitate refresher and bespoke training tailored to service needs
- Collaborate with clinical teams and service managers to ensure training reflects individual support strategies
- Monitor training outcomes and drive quality improvement
- Provide consultative support for complex behaviour referrals
- Support the implementation of M&D Cares Reducing Restrictive Practice pledge
- Contribute to the development of our internal MDT and PBS framework
- Line manage or mentor trainers
- Maintain accurate training records
- Contribute to policy and training content development
Essential Criteria
- Accredited PBM ABMU Trainer
- Relevant training qualification
- Strong understanding and experience of PBS
- Experience in developing and teaching active support
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills
- Ability to tailor training to diverse teams and learning styles
- Commitment to person-centred, rights-based care
- Belief in proactive support and reducing restrictive practices
- Ability to supervise accredited PBM, PBS, and active support courses
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs in health or social care
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and RRN standards
- Experience mentoring or coaching trainers/support staff
