The Role: The IT Manager & Hands on Principal Technician is responsible for providing advanced technical support, managing IT infrastructure (including networking), and ensuring the smooth operation of the company’s IT systems across all sites. The role will involve working closely with the Head of Technology to roll out the vision for IT operations, network, and infrastructure improvements across the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a small IT team, including performance management, workload planning via ticketing systems and ongoing skills development.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day IT operations while balancing strategic improvement initiatives and long‑term technology roadmap.
  • Manage and support multi‑site IT infrastructure, ensuring consistency, performance and reliability across all locations.
  • Implement, modernise and maintain infrastructure and systems to meet organisational and security standards.
  • Develop, maintain and enforce IT policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain and evolve IT asset management processes, including lifecycle tracking and procurement.
  • Oversee provisioning, distribution and management of end‑user devices (laptops, tablets and mobile devices).
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify risks, vulnerabilities or potential outages before they impact the business.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using structured troubleshooting approaches.

Technical Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years’ IT experience, including 3‑5 years in a leadership role managing small teams, preferably as an IT Manager & Hands on Principal Technician.
  • Proven experience supporting and modernising IT environments for 300+ users across multiple sites.
  • Experience delivering IT projects, upgrades and deployments aligned to business objectives.
  • Hands‑on expertise with Microsoft technologies.
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity.
  • Experience with device management.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Familiar with ITIL principles and service delivery frameworks.

Qualifications & Training:

  • Relevant IT qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • ITIL certificate (desirable).
  • Microsoft or cybersecurity certifications (desirable).
  • Experience with ISO 27001 or similar frameworks (desirable).
