The Role
We’re hiring a Senior User Researcher to strengthen how customer evidence informs product decisions at Lyst. This role is hands-on: you’ll run high-quality usability and opportunity research in close partnership with product teams. The role will also own research enablement - creating foundations, tools and practices to help teams move faster and reduce bottlenecks.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver Applied Research for Product Teams
- Plan and run usability testing, interviews, and opportunity studies
- Use platforms such as UserTesting.com to deliver rapid evaluative research that supports delivery teams
- Design and administer surveys end-to-end, including SurveyMonkey (Admin-level familiarity)
- Partner with designers and PMs to shape learning goals early
- Turn findings into clear, actionable implications for product work
- Own Research Foundations That Scale
- Develop and own lightweight playbooks and templates for BAU testing
- Create shared standards for quality, ethics, and consistency and coach teams on how to utilise them
- Drive adoption of consistent research practices to reduce dependency on a central support
- Build knowledge systems and insight repositories
- Maintain accessible and effective knowledge workflows using your familiarity with tools such as Notion or NotebookLLM
- Create practical ways to capture and reuse insight across teams
- Enable Teams Over Time
- Support teams in adopting safe, lightweight, customer testing practices
- Reduce bottlenecks by helping others do the basics well
- Synthesise so that insights compound rather than fragment
- Collaborate with Product Design by advising on prototype fidelity and testing readiness, ideally with working knowledge of Figma
Growth Over Time
As foundations mature, this role will have the scope to contribute to broader strategic questions by connecting customer behaviour to longer-term product opportunities. Progression will be earned through strong execution, trusted partnership, and building systems that scale. We will create a supportive environment that values visibility and collaboration to help you succeed.
How We Work
User Research is a central capability that collaborates closely with embedded product teams. Some work happens in deep partnership with squads with particular connection through product design. Other needs that affect cross-organisational initiatives may require planned allocation. Regardless of the collaboration model, the focus is on clarity, impact, and sustainable ways of working.
What Success Looks Like
In your first year:
- Teams have reliable access to usability and opportunity research
- Research outputs influence decisions, not just documentation
- Foundational templates and practices are in active use
- Customer insight becomes systematic and reusable
Over time:
- Teams rely less on central research for basic testing
- Research contributes increasingly to cross-organisational themes and opportunity framing
- The function matures from delivery support toward enablement and strategic insight
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong applied research craft and experience running studies end-to-end
- Ability to translate findings into clear product implications
- A practical, outcomes-focused mindset
- Comfortable partnering closely with design and product stakeholders
- Motivation to build repeatable practices, not just deliver individual studies
- Demonstrated potential to grow from strong execution into broader synthesis over time
- Experience in ecommerce or other consumer facing experiences.
- Proficiency running applied research using UserTesting.com, and experience managing survey programmes with SurveyMonkey (Admin)
Nice to Have:
- Experience in fashion retail or marketplaces
- Experience maintaining insight repositories using Notion, NotebookLLM, or similar tools
- Exposure to both evaluative and generative research methods
- Familiarity with Figma prototyping workflows for usability testing
