We're looking for a Director of Analytics to lead our lean, multi-disciplined, best-in-class analytics team. As director, you will set the mission, technical direction, and culture of the analytics function. You will provide technical direction on product analytics, experimentation, attribution, forecasting, and manage analytical frameworks. You will promote a culture of discovering and communicating insights, as well as enabling self-service analysis capabilities for stakeholders. You will also evangelise and inspire best practices across the company.
You will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and work closely with the Director of Data Platform and Directors in other functions such as Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Finance and Marketing. Our stack includes AWS, Snowflake, dbt, Looker, Python, R and other best in class, modern tooling for business reporting, experimentation, and analysis. We are heavily invested in advanced AI-enhanced analytics tools across the company, and you will drive the evaluation, deployment and adoption of more powerful tools to scale self-serve analytics.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing, diverse analytics team.
- Foster a culture of deep analysis, commercial sense, innovation, best practices and evangelizing non-obvious insights (not simply reporting data).
- Align team objectives with company goals and strategic initiatives.
- Apply strong commercial intuition, customer-focus and data analysis to drive strategic decision-making.
- Provide expert guidance on horizontal technical analytical areas, including experimentation, attribution, forecasting, predictive analytics, and observability.
- Continuously identify opportunities for advanced analytics and data methodologies and enable implementation.
- Identify and track appropriate metrics to measure success across all areas of the business.
- Ensure trustworthiness and timeliness of data used by stakeholders from all departments of the company.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to provide insights for decision-making around key initiatives and strategic objectives.
- Work with FP&A and product leads to align customer impact with commercial outcomes - working to a common growth-model/metric tree.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, the competitive landscape, advances in technology, methodologies and tools, and market dynamics to inform commercial strategies.
- Partner with the Director of Data Platform to define and execute the vision for how data can be leveraged effectively across the business.
- Work alongside the Data Platform team to ensure high data quality and robust data governance.
- Develop and maintain analytics roadmaps to support the progress of the data strategy.
- Empower the team to execute on reporting, analytics, and experimentation.
- Drive with product development to identify and apply new data opportunities.
- Drive understanding of key metrics and their importance across the business.
- Evangelize opportunities and trends discovered through insights across all stakeholders and ensure that insights and data leads to sound decision-making.
- Empower stakeholders through increased self-service usage of analytics tools, while freeing up analysts to contribute deeper insights requiring greater analytical skills.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior or head of analytics role, within e-commerce, marketplace or technology sectors.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing large, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Expertise in doing analytical work, including data modelling, experimentation, attribution, forecasting, and observability.
- Experience leading product analytics and improving product experience based on analysis and insights.
- Experience introducing and driving adoption of agentic analytics to an organisation.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience driving change through analytics and data initiatives.
- Strong in both high-level strategic thinking and detailed analysis.
