About Lyrebird Health
Lyrebird Health is transforming the quality and accessibility of healthcare by automating clinicians' most timeâconsuming tasks. Thousands of clinicians across many disciplines already use Lyrebird â and that number is growing every day. They trust us to deliver a fast, reliable, and secure experience. We value that trust above all else and strive to earn it while continuing to amaze our users.
The Role
Weâre looking for a Lead ForwardâDeployed Engineer to lead technical delivery on the ground in the UK. This is not a traditional backend or frontend role. Youâll operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and customers â owning deployments, shaping solutions with early UK partners, and feeding realâworld insight directly back into the core platform. You will be one of the first engineering hires in the UK, with clear scope to evolve into a Team Lead / Engineering Manager as the local team grows.
What Youâll Do
- Forward Deployment & Customer Delivery Work
- Directly with early UK customers to deploy, customise, and optimise Lyrebird's platform
- Translate customer needs into pragmatic technical solutions
- Own integrations, configuration, and implementation quality endâtoâend
- Be comfortable operating in imperfect, ambiguous environments
- Contribute handsâon across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and the Australian engineering team
- Move fast, ship often, and raise the bar on quality and reliability
- Act as the technical anchor for the UK market
- Establish best practices around delivery, testing, and deployment
- Mentor future UK engineers and help shape the local team
- Influence architecture decisions as the product and customer base scales
What Weâre Looking For
- 5 years + experience
- Strong startup experience (early or growth stage preferred)
- Prior team leadership or teamâbuilding experience
- Comfortable owning projects from problem definition through to production
- Experience working directly with nonâtechnical stakeholders or customers
Tech Stack
You donât need to tick every box, but you should be strong across most:
- Frontend: TypeScript/React
- Backend: TypeScript, Node.js
- Infrastructure / Cloud: AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, S3, RDS)
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Tooling & Platform: GitHub
- Early exposure or interest in LLM tooling such as LangChain, LangFuse, LangSmith
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
- Python (particularly for ML or data pipelines)
- CI/CD pipelines
- Broader DevOps exposure
Who You Are
- You enjoy being close to customers, not hidden behind tickets
- You take ownership and finish what you start
- Youâre pragmatic â you know when "perfect" slows progress
- Youâre energised by building something from the ground up
- You want influence, not just a backlog
Why This Role Is Different
- Founding engineering role in a new market
- Direct impact on company growth and product direction
- Clear path to UK Engineering Lead / Team Lead
- High trust, high ownership environment
- Work on meaningful problems in healthcare, at real scale
At Lyrebird, you wonât just write code â youâll help shape the future of the human experience. If you want to pioneer, to create, and to see your work touch lives directly, weâd love to hear from you. Weâre building a team that reflects the diversity of the people whoâll benefit from our work. We want Lyrebird to be a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and able to thrive. If youâre from an underrepresented background in tech, we especially encourage you to apply â even if you donât meet every single requirement.
