As they enter an exciting period of strategic transformation and change, they have a new opportunity for a Financial Accountant to play a key role within their small Finance team. You will be based full-time at their impressive headquarters between York & Harrogate, easily accessible near junction 47 of the A1, and within reach from the local train station. Your Remit: Reporting to the Director of Finance, your main job purpose is to ensure the business complies with its Financial, legal and statutory duties, along with maintaining robust Financial Controls. Specifically, this will include… Financial Accounting, Tax & Reporting: * Assist the Director of Finance in managing and controlling the general ledger and balance sheet ensuring accuracy, understanding and reconciliation of all ledger transactions, in accordance with current UK accounting standards to a level suitable for the preparation of statutory accounts. * Provide analysis and supporting data to enable the construction of statutory accounts by 3rd party service provider. * Ensure compliance with UK Tax legislation directly managing VAT, payroll taxes and other personal taxes, whilst supporting the preparation of the corporation tax computation. * Produce simple family trust and partnership accounts, together with associated tax computations and returns. * Ensure reporting & compliance with extended producer responsibility for packaging. Management of Payroll Processes: * Management & control of all payroll and benefits processes within prescribed timescales. * Manage the company’s PAYE settlement agreement, and submission of form P11D(b) and monitor staff entertaining. * Manage deductions for the company’s auto-enrolment pension scheme. * Manage other statutory payments & deductions from pay and settle liabilities with HMRC. * Comply with the requirements of HMRC’s real-time information system. * Post payroll transactions and accruals into the company’s accounting system. * Distribute electronic payslips, P60’s and P45’s to employees. * Liaise with managers and employees to resolve payroll queries. Management and Control of Financial Processes: * Ensure that finance related master data, including payment terms and payee details, are accurately maintained and up to date within the company’s SAP computer system. * Assist the Director of Finance with the daily management of cashflow & exchange of currency contracts. * Make cash book and petty cash payments and record transactions in the general ledger. * Manage and maintain the company’s credit card expenses. * Manage the creation of supplier payments in accordance with established terms and agree with the Director of Finance. * Oversee the processing of supplier invoices and verify that appropriate authorisation controls have been complied with before submitting payment runs. Skills & Experience Required: * Qualified or Part-qualified ACA, ACCA, AAT or Qualified by Experience * Experience from either an accountancy practice or within industry. * Possess the required skills across both Financial Accounting and Payroll. * Knowledge of UK GAAP and associated legislations. * Excellent communication skills to liaise with colleagues and external partners. * Attention to detail and ability to work with financial data. * Hands-on pragmatic approach, aligned with the family-orientated culture. What’s on Offer: Starting salary of c£40,000 – £45,000 Profit related bonus. Early Friday Finish. Health Cash plan Pension Contributions. Free on-site parking.
