Overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Paralegal to join our Motor Recoveries Team in our Leeds city centre office, on a permanent basis.
The Trainee Paralegal role is within a very fast paced environment acting for large insurer clients.
Responsibilities
As a Trainee Paralegal you will
- Respond to phone calls from clients and third parties to gather information and assess prospects.
- Provide legal advice on prospects of success.
- Type and send letters to clients, other side insurers and solicitors.
- Assist in pursuing claims through pre‑litigation and post‑litigation stages, using our case‑management system.
- Comply fully with agreed service standards and conduct administrative procedures as required.
- Prepare for litigation, advise clients and insurer, respond to incoming post, draft and issue court proceedings if necessary, and manage cases through to settlement or conclusion.
Skills & Competencies
- Excellent communication skills and a good telephone manner.
- Ability to prioritise and organise work.
- Team working ability.
- Computer literacy: working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word.
- Effective numeracy and literacy skills.
Experience
- Experience of working in a customer‑focused service environment is desirable but not essential.
- Demonstrated interest in law.
Education
Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English & Maths, or equivalent.
Core Working Hours
The successful candidate will work 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week, between the core working hours of 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday.
Work Location
You will work from home three days a week – you must have the infrastructure in place.
Lyons Davidson will provide a company laptop.
The other two days per week will be based in our Leeds city centre office.
Please note that our hybrid policy is subject to change and candidates should be prepared to attend the office full time if required in the future.
