We are looking for a Solicitor or FCILEx to join the Employment team based in our Leeds/Bristol office. The purpose of the role is to run a caseload of legal expense insurer files as well as assisting with non-contentious work from time to time. There may be scope for supervision of junior case handlers. A keen interest in employment law is essential. The work is challenging but rewarding and the team places a high value on mutual support and co‑operation.
Hybrid working: This role would be based in either our Bristol or Leeds office and has the option of hybrid working or fully remote.
Hours: Applications are encouraged from those looking for both full and part time roles. Core working hours of 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Advising clients on potential Employment Tribunal claims
- Running a caseload of Employment Tribunal claims including drafting pleadings, drafting witness statements, negotiating settlements, advising on settlement agreements and instructing counsel or advocates as necessary
- Complying with insurer service level agreements
- Supporting the employment team with non‑contentious work such as provision of contractual documentation, handbooks, other employment documentation and providing reactive and proactive employment advice to commercial clients, including telephone advice
- Participating in marketing initiatives, including writing updates on employment law and providing training sessions to clients
- Ensuring accurate advice is given to clients
- Using our case management system to progress files
- Billing and invoicing
Qualifications:
- Fully qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEx or comparable experience and a desire to obtain qualification
- A passion for employment law and for providing commercial and practical solutions
- Excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication and time‑management skills
- Ability to take full responsibility for cases and strategy (subject to supervisory and group support)
- Ability to work as part of a team
