An opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Paralegal to join our Motor Recoveries Team in our Leeds city centre office, on a permanent basis.
The Trainee Paralegal role is within a very fast paced environment acting for large insurer clients.
You will be liaising with claimants and other parties to gather information about their claim in order to prepare for litigation; advising them and the insurer; dealing with and responding to incoming post; drafting and issuing Court proceedings if necessary; and managing cases through to settlement or conclusion.
As a trainee paralegal, you will join a salary structure whereby you will have regular six monthly salary reviews on a two year structure.
You can expect a salary increase in accordance with the structure if your performance is satisfactory and will therefore benefit from regular discussions about your progression, through formal appraisals and one-to-one meetings.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Dealing with phone calls to and from clients and third parties to obtain information and assess prospects;
• Giving legal advice on prospects of success;
• Typing and sending letters to clients; other side insurers and solicitors.
• Pursuing claims through pre-litigation and post-litigation stages, making full use of our case management system;
• Complying fully with agreed service standards;
• Dealing with administrative procedures as required.
Skills/Competencies required:
• Excellent communication skills and a good telephone manner;
• The ability to prioritise and organise your work;
• Working as a member of a team;
• Computer literate (working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word);
• Effective numeracy & literacy skills;
Experience:
• Experience of working in a customer focused service environment is desirable but not essential;
• A genuine interest in law;

Education:
Minimum 5 G.C.S.Es at grade C or above including English & Maths, or equivalent. Please clearly state your qualifications and grades achieved.
Core Working Hours:
The successful candidate will work 7 hours a day, 35 hours a week, between the core working hours of 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday
You will work from home three days a week – you would therefore need the infrastructure in place to do so, Lyons Davidson will provide you with a company laptop. The other two days per week would be based in our Leeds city centre office. Please note that our hybrid-policy is subject to change and therefore candidates should be prepared to attend the office full time if required in the future.
