An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Paralegal to join the Pursuer Personal Injury Team in our Edinburgh city centre office. This opening would suit someone looking to start a career in motor insurance claims handling, either from a legal education background or an interest in learning from the ground up. Previous experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Hybrid working: This role would be based in our Edinburgh office, with a combination of home and office working (working 2 days in the Edinburgh city centre office and 3 days from home). You would therefore need the infrastructure in place to work from home and will be provided with a company laptop.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Managing own caseload of pre-litigated claims, predominantly RTA but with some PL/OL and EL claims;
  • Pursuing claims from start to finish, or to litigation under the CPAP, and making full use of our case management system;
  • Complying fully with agreed service level standards;
  • Communicating with clients, insurers, expert witnesses and solicitors;
  • Dealing with administration as required.

  • Effective people skills (able to work well with colleagues, clients, etc.);
  • Be compassionate and understanding;
  • The ability to prioritise and organise your work and work to deadlines;
  • To be organised and be able to work under pressure;
  • Computer literate (working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word);
  • Effective numeracy and literacy skills.

You will be a team player with good attention to detail, the ability to use your own initiative and to work to strict deadlines. You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
