Senior Employment Lawyer/Senior Associate in Bristol

Purpose:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced lawyer to join our established employment group which has teams based in both our Bristol and Leeds offices. We are looking for someone with both extensive employment law knowledge along with extensive experience of managing a team of employment lawyers.

The group currently consists of approximately 25 members, dealing with a wide range of work sources including legal expenses insurers, businesses, consumers and institutions.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to progress within our associate structure and onwards to our senior management/partner team.

Hybrid working:
This role would be based in either our Bristol or Leeds office and we offer a blend of both office and home working.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Duties will include taking full responsibility for cases, whilst also mentoring and overseeing members of the team to assist in their development. You will be responsible for providing strategic, technical and practical guidance within your area of expertise. You will set an example of best practice in the conduct of insurance litigation.

Duties include:

•Assist the group leader with maximising the profitability of the group,

•Represent the group by communicating effectively internally and externally to build excellent working relationships,

•Lead in the auditing of cases to ensure a consistently high standard,

•Manage performance of employees using all tools available,

•Handle complaints within the group and to liaise with the Compliance department where necessary,

•Assist with future recruitment for the group

•Line manage the Solicitors and Paralegals within the group

•Promote compliance with the company’s policies and procedures within the group.

Skills/Competencies required:

Essential:

• Fully qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FCILEx or extensive equivalent experience of dealing with claimant and respondent matters.

• A passion for employment law and for providing commercial and practical solutions.

• Extensive experience of leading and supervising Employment Lawyers

Experience required:

• Extensive experience of Employment work,

• Experience of dealing with both lay and insurer clients,

• An ability to deal with all aspects of employment tribunal litigation,

• The ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines,
