This is an exciting opportunity for a solicitor/FCILEX with practising rights to join our busy Family department. The role will involve running a caseload in both privately funded and publicly funded cases involving private law children and domestic abuse cases. You will be required to attend court hearings in Bristol and elsewhere, and conduct your own advocacy.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Running a caseload of private law children/domestic abuse cases
- Attending court with and without counsel and undertaking own advocacy
- Attending client meetings
- Dealing with legal aid and privately funded cases
- Drafting documents, briefs to counsel, statements etc.
- File maintenance to Legal Aid Audit standards
- Effective use of our internal case management system
- Communicating with clients, expert witnesses and solicitors
- Business development
- Contributing towards the department’s financial targets
- Any additional duties as required
Skills/Competencies required:
- Essential Experience of family legal aid and CCMS
- Experience of private law children and domestic abuse cases
- Experience of working in a family law department
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills and pro-active approach
- To be able to prioritise work and pay strict attention to detail
- Ability to use own initiative and work to strict deadlines
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Resolution Accredited Specialist
Education:
- Solicitor/FCILEX with practice rights
