We are looking to recruit an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Exchange & Completions team to support the Legal team and Conveyancing department. Our Residential Conveyancing department works as a team, providing ongoing and consistent support to each other, encouraging a good work-life balance.
Job Purpose
We seek an ambitious and experienced legal assistant with a passion for Residential Conveyancing. The exchange and completions team is vital to the success of our Residential Conveyancing function by offering support to the legal team and providing necessary information to clients to complete the sale or purchase of their property.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist the Legal Team in managing caseloads by actioning legal procedures and dealing with file-related queries either face to face or by telephone.
- Complete tasks competently and within defined timescales to stay in line with Service Level Agreements.
- Prepare, check, and send documents e.g., Certificates of Title, and chase information including searches, mortgage offers, and mortgage redemptions.
- Work through the Lyons Bowe key date stages to ensure all tasks are completed on time for both purchases and sales.
- Ensure that all relevant documentation is sent to clients on time and explained fully.
- Provide clients with real-time updates on the progress of their sale or purchase.
- Ensure that key date stages are updated on the Lyons Bowe system to reflect the work carried out.
Requirements
- Ability to work to a high standard with fine attention to detail, organised and efficient under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willingness to learn and adaptability to change.
- High level of Maths & English.
Professional Development

As a Legal Assistant within the Residential Conveyancing team, after completing your 6-month probationary period, you will have the opportunity to study for the CLC Licensed Conveyancing Level 4 qualification, fully funded by the firm. Upon completion, you can progress to the CLC Licensed Conveyancing Level 6 and be promoted to Trainee Conveyancer, moving to a fee-earning position in the firm. The Level 6 course takes approximately 2 years to complete, and once passed, you will become a Newly Qualified Licensed Conveyancer.
