We are looking for an ambitious and experienced legal assistant who has a passion for Private Client work. The successful applicant will have recent knowledge and experience within a Private Client Department, assisting on a varied case load of Wills, Probates, LPA’s and Estate Administration.
Practical experience handling client enquiries face to face and via telephone and email is essential as well as being confident and articulate. The ideal candidate will be studying for Membership of the Institute of Legal Executives, have working knowledge of case management systems and be able to demonstrate a commitment to personal development.
Responsibilities and Duties- To assist Fee Earners in the management of case load by actioning legal procedures and dealing with file related queries either face to face or by telephone.
- To complete tasks competently and within defined time scales including taking dictations and typing.
- Liaising with clients and other contacts, dealing with queries, taking instructions and conducting letter and telephone enquiries as necessary.
- Maximise the firm's potential to cross-sell services by identifying appropriate opportunities.
- Robust approach to relationships and interactions with colleagues.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure and adhere to critical deadlines.
- IT literate and have good keyboard skills – Microsoft Office is essential.
Here at Lyons Bowe we offer all of our employees the opportunity to grow and develop with the firm. As a Legal Assistant within the Private Client team, once you have completed your 6-month probationary period, you will be given the opportunity to study for the CLC Level 4 Diploma in Probate Law and Practice qualification, all fully funded by the firm and through our training partner, LTC Kent.
Once you have completed your CLC Level 4 Diploma in Probate Law and Practice qualification you will be given the opportunity to progress to the next level, the CLC Level 6 Diploma in Probate Law and Practice, and at this time will be promoted to Trainee Conveyancer and move to a fee earning position in the firm. The Level 6 course takes approximately 2 years to complete and once passed, you will become a Newly Qualified Licenced Probate Practitioner.
Other Routes to QualificationCILEx The CILEx CPQ route consists of 3 separate qualifications:
- Foundation Paralegal – 18 months
- Advanced Paralegal – 18 months
- Professional – 12 months
With CILEx you have the flexibility to study to become a Chartered Legal Executive whilst also working towards your career goals and offers you the opportunity to develop legal skills and knowledge in a variety of different areas.
