Basic Function
- Perform all activities accurately and safely in accordance with company standards.
- Senior role responsible for supporting the department with inspection & testing of raw materials and finished products in accordance with the inspection plan and all associated administration and documentation.
- Assess products and make modifications to the formulation where appropriate to meet product specifications for both colour and mechanical properties.
- Ensure products meet national and international quality standards with the authority to stop production where non-conformity arises.
- Assist the Quality manager in delivering Right first time (RFT) operations coinciding with Customer complaint or Incident management, continuous improvement, FMEA, root cause analysis, gauge R&R, SPC and product audit activities.
- Manage Not right first time (NRFT) corrective action activities & rework opportunities.
- Support Quality manager & Shift production colour & QC technicians maintain training & development programs, laboratory controlled documents, test methods & procedures.
- Assist the Quality manager, QAE, PAD & ADTS in investigating manufacturing related customer complaints meeting with business KPI targets & deadlines.
A Day in the Life Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Support & supervise production operations with planning, process order documentation, product inspection, result input, manufactured & packaged quantity validation, accurate & effective material release.
- Ensure non-conforming production is suitably identified, recorded & controlled to prevent unplanned release.
- Support production with investigation, root cause analysis, corrective & preventative measures.
- Support Quality & Lab manager develop, provide & maintain training programs and ensure laboratory personnel perform their roles & responsibilities effectively.
- Apply prior knowledge and understanding of raw materials and the effects their characteristics have on EP compounds to make rework formulation adjustments for colour and mechanical properties to meet product specifications.
- Support Quality Manager in maintaining Quality standards & IATF requirements, ensuring laboratory performance & improvement initiatives are developed and maintained.
- Operational knowledge of test equipment and understand their international standards to perform and report accurate tests on materials and finished products.
- Maintain Gage R&R standards accordingly.
- Perform and report accurate analytical tests on raw materials and finished products, both GC & FTIR.
- Build & maintain comparative library.
- Maintain systems to ensure equipment is tested & calibrated according to schedule.
- Conduct routine internal calibrations where applicable.
- Assist Quality manager/ Laboratory manager in other activities not limited to the above.
You Bring This Value
- Education: Minimum GCSE’s in Mathematics, English and Science subjects but ideally educated to a higher level preferably a degree in a science discipline.
- Work Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in quality control or laboratory environment; minimum 1-2 years’ experience in quality inspection role or R&D role, preferably within polymer manufacturing industry; minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a colour evaluation role with responsibilities adjusting formulations to achieve product specifications; minimum 1-2 years in a supervisor or similar leadership role.
- Skills: Good degree of computer literacy and ability to use internal business software and systems; good training, development & leadership skills; good analytical skills with a good understanding of test equipment and methods for the polymer industry; good problem solving skills; good communication skills internally within quality team and across operational departments; highly motivated with clear focus on achieving targets and goals; perfect colour vision.
- Languages: Must be fluent in written and verbal English.
