I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Southall, who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Sheet Metal Worker / Team Leader to join their production team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled sheet metal professional with strong fabrication experience and natural leadership ability to take the next step in their career.

You'll play a key role in overseeing daily workshop operations while remaining hands‑on, ensuring high‑quality standards and supporting the development of the team.

The Role

As the Senior Sheet Metal Worker / Team Leader, you'll be responsible for producing precision sheet metal components while leading by example on the shop floor.

You'll work from engineering drawings, operate a range of sheet metal machinery, maintain quality standards, and help ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate Euro Mac punching machines, Pierceall machines, guillotines, and press brake bending machines.
  • Manufacture high-quality sheet metal boxes, panels, and fabricated components to customer specifications.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, working accurately to tight tolerances.
  • Calculate bend allowances and machine settings to ensure precision manufacturing.
  • Carry out quality inspections to ensure finished products meet specification.
  • Lead, mentor, and support workshop staff to maintain productivity and workmanship.
  • Assist with planning workloads and ensuring projects are completed on schedule.
  • Promote a safe, organised, and efficient working environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience operating punching, piercing, guillotine, and press brake machinery.
  • Excellent understanding of manufacturing tolerances and quality standards.
  • Strong mathematical ability, including calculating bend allowances and machine settings.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team mentoring experience.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work.
  • Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
  • Welding experience or knowledge.
  • Previous experience in a senior or team leader position.
