We are seeking an experienced Design and Testing Engineer to join the team in Newbury. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical design solutions across renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with practical hands-on experience, contributing to all phases of the design, testing, and project delivery lifecycle.
You will be involved in designing systems from initial concept through to testing, commissioning, and handover, while ensuring compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver electrical and instrumentation designs, including schematics, layouts, and technical drawings (Control Panels).
- Produce CAD drawings using SolidWorks electrical and other relevant design software.
- Gather and analyze customer requirements to ensure designs meet project specifications.
- Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), equipment lists, and associated documentation.
- Support testing, commissioning, and validation of electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Coordinate project activities, including job control, stock/material tracking, and design approvals.
- Contribute to quotations, tender submissions, and cost estimates as needed.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality procedures.
- Proficiency in CAD design software, SolidWorks Electrical (Electrical & 3D/2D).
- Knowledge of electrical circuits, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Experience in design and testing of industrial or building systems.
- Ability to manage project tasks, including schedules, job tracking, and material coordination.
- Strong technical documentation skills, including BOMs, drawings, and reports.
- Experience with MRP systems, such as EMIR.
- Exposure to renewable energy systems, such as wind, solar, or hydrogen power.
- Experience in building design or industrial infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with commissioning, FAT/SAT, and client acceptance testing.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety compliance.
