We are looking for a technically strong Technical Director to lead the technical direction of a specialist engineering business delivering bespoke Automated Test Equipment (ATE), test systems and test fixtures for customers across aerospace, defence, automotive, medical and industrial sectors. This is a hands-on technical leadership role. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership while retaining a strong understanding of the underlying engineering, particularly across ATE, electronics, hardware, software and mechanical integration. You will lead technical strategy, support engineering teams, review and challenge technical solutions, and work closely with customers from requirements and system architecture through to design, build, integration and commissioning.
What We Need:
- Significant experience in Automated Test Equipment (ATE), test systems or automated testing
- Strong electronics/electrical engineering background
- Proven hands-on experience with electronic hardware and circuit design
- Strong understanding of analogue and digital electronics, instrumentation and fault finding
- Experience designing and developing test rigs, fixtures, test stations or ATE systems
- Strong experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, PXI, DAQ and/or test instrumentation
- Understanding of electrical, electronic, software and mechanical system integration
- Experience taking test systems from customer requirements through design, build, integration and commissioning
- Previous experience leading engineers or technical teams
- Ability to provide both strategic technical leadership and detailed technical input
- Engineering qualification essential
