<b>Job Description</b><p><b>Senior Optical Systems Engineer – South West England</b></p><p>Leading photonics company seeks a Senior Optical Systems Engineer to join our R&D team. Youll develop cutting-edge fiber optic components, high-power optical amplifiers, and optical transmitter sub-systems across multiple markets.</p><p>The role is hybrid although fully remote UK based candidates will be considered</p><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>Design and develop optical/fiber-optic components and subsystems</li><li>Lead a small technical team</li><li>Participate in prototype build & test</li><li>Collaborate with mechanical and electronic design engineers</li><li>Manage key project budgets and timelines</li></ul><p><b>Requirements:</b></p><ul><li>Degree in Engineering or Physics (PhD preferred)</li><li>Experience in high-power fiber lasers/amplifiers, non-linear optics, or photonic integrated circuits</li><li>Knowledge of fiber-optic and free-space transmission systems</li><li>Team leadership experience</li><li>Strong problem-solving abilities</li><li>Limited travel (<5%)</li></ul>
