To program, set, and operate Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM), Makino wire machines, in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications. The role ensures machines are correctly prepared, tooling is optimised, and components are produced efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Duties
- Program and run wire EDM machines
- Read technical drawings (metric/imperial)
- Set up tooling, fixtures, and workpieces
- Prove out and optimise CNC/EDM programs
- Inspect first-off and check parts in-process
- Adjust machine settings to maintain tight tolerances
- Maintain machines and manage consumables
- Support rework, repairs, and prototype work
- Keep accurate production and quality records
- Follow health, safety, and quality standards (incl. NADCAP)
Skills Required
- Experience with wire EDM (Makino preferred)
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T
- Strong precision machining background
- Knowledge of tooling, materials, and inspection
- Problem-solving and fault-finding ability
- High attention to detail and quality focus
- Able to work independently in a production environment
