We are seeking an experienced hands-on Electronics Design Engineer to join a growing technology company developing advanced robotic equipment used in the testing and manufacturing of electronic systems. This role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative engineering team designing high-value automation equipment, contributing to both new product development and improvements to existing systems. The position suits someone who enjoys a varied workload, practical engineering challenges, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams. The organisation operates internationally with customers primarily in North America and Asia, and occasional global travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic hardware for new products
- Improve and update existing designs in response to component obsolescence, regulatory requirements, cost reduction, and performance improvements
- Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues
- Produce design documentation, specifications, and manufacturing release documentation
- Research and evaluate new technologies and design approaches
- Build and test electronic prototypes
- Support testing, validation, and fault finding on complex electronic systems
Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in electronic hardware design (analogue and digital)
- Microcontroller development, including embedded firmware (PIC experience beneficial)
- Experience designing schematics and PCBs, including high-speed or impedance-controlled boards
- Experience using professional PCB design tools (e.g. Altium or similar)
- Strong debugging, fault-finding, and repair skills on complex electronic systems
- Understanding of signal integrity principles
- Exposure to robotics, automation systems, or test equipment would be advantageous
