An established engineering design and development business is seeking a Design Engineer to join its growing team. The company specialises in the design, development, and support of complex electro-mechanical products for industrial applications, working with customers and manufacturing partners across multiple international markets. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects throughout the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to prototyping, testing, certification, and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electro-mechanical products using 3D CAD software.
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.
- Support the build, testing, and development of prototypes for validation and certification activities.
- Collaborate with engineering, technical, and manufacturing teams across multiple international locations.
- Provide technical support to customers, including occasional site visits, installation support, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Support manufacturing partners with product development, assembly processes, testing procedures, and technical training.
About You
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, hands-on Design Engineer with experience in electro-mechanical product design. Experience within electrical distribution equipment, switchgear, power systems, or similar industries would be advantageous but is not essential. You will possess a practical engineering mindset and enjoy seeing products progress from concept through to production. Candidates with a personal interest in engineering projects, electronics, automation, robotics, or mechanical systems outside of work will be viewed favourably.
Essential Requirements
- Experience using 3D CAD software.
- Competent user of Microsoft 365 applications.
- Ability to perform basic mechanical and electrical engineering calculations.
- Experience with SolidWorks and simulation tools.
- Experience using electromagnetic, FEA, or CFD simulation software.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, electrical distribution equipment, or industrial machinery.
- Programming experience, including automation, scripting, or microcontroller development.
- Practical workshop or machining experience.
