We are recruiting for a Tree Officer to play a key role in protecting and managing the borough's trees within planning and conservation environments. This is a hands-on, professional role combining site inspections, planning advice, and enforcement ideal for someone with strong arboricultural knowledge and local authority experience.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assess applications for works to protected trees and within conservation areas
  • Manage and review Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs)
  • Advise planning teams, officers, and councillors on arboricultural impact
  • Lead enforcement on unauthorised tree works
  • Represent the council in appeals and legal proceedings
  • Carry out site inspections across Calderdale
  • Liaise with external bodies including the Forestry Commission
