We are currently recruiting for an experienced Technical Accountant to support a busy local authority finance team on a 6-month contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for a finance professional with strong capital and treasury experience to play a key role in delivering statutory financial reporting, treasury management, and budget support.
The Role
You will work closely with senior finance leaders to support the delivery of key financial functions, including final accounts, treasury operations, and capital programme management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the preparation of Statement of Accounts and year-end processes
- Managing treasury functions, including cashflow forecasting and investment/borrowing decisions
- Producing treasury reports, including Prudential Indicators
- Maintaining fixed asset and grants registers
- Supporting capital budget coordination and monitoring
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations
- Completing statutory financial and government returns
- Carrying out reconciliations and variance analysis
- Liaising with auditors, advisors, and internal stakeholders
This role also involves contributing to financial planning.
