We are seeking an experienced Senior Highways Engineer to lead the delivery of highway maintenance and improvement schemes across Oxfordshire. The role involves identifying, designing, and managing schemes relating to carriageways, footways, drainage systems, safety barriers, and other highway assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing scheme delivery
- Managing budgets, procurement and risk
- Preparing specifications and contract documents
- Undertaking site investigations
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively
- Providing technical expertise
- Supporting strategic planning
- Producing reports for senior leaders and Members
- Acting as an escalation point for complex issues
- Managing and developing staff
- Promoting continuous improvement
- Building strong stakeholder relationships
- Deputising for the Team Leader when required
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification such as Incorporated Engineer accreditation or equivalent, OR significant demonstrable industry experience
- Proven experience in highways engineering and scheme delivery
- Strong knowledge of highway maintenance
