Lynx Employment is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and motivated Principal Planning Enforcement Officer to join their Planning Enforcement team in Halifax on a temporary full-time basis until 31st October 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to manage complex enforcement cases, support team performance, and play a key role in delivering an effective and joined-up enforcement service.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Investigate alleged breaches of planning control, including highly complex and sensitive cases.
  • Assess cases in accordance with planning legislation and policy, making recommendations on formal enforcement action including notices and prosecutions.
  • Act as case officer for retrospective planning applications where relevant to enforcement case resolution.
  • Support negotiations to achieve acceptable planning outcomes and resolutions.
  • Represent the Council at planning hearings, inquiries, and court proceedings.
  • Liaise with legal advisors and internal colleagues to coordinate enforcement cases effectively.
  • Assist the Team Leader with the development and implementation of enforcement policies.
