We are recruiting an experienced Design Manager to take responsibility for the end-to-end coordination and assurance of design activities on a major HV substation project. You will manage the design programme, oversee technical assurance and coordinate design interfaces across project management, engineering, planning, commercial and construction teams.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and monitor the project design programme
- Coordinate design activities with planning, procurement and construction
- Ensure designs meet client specifications, National Grid standards and CDM requirements
- Manage technical assurance submissions, hold-point reviews and gateway approvals
- Lead multidisciplinary design reviews
- Manage RFIs, technical queries and design communications
- Maintain design change registers and support NEC change-control processes
- Identify the cost, programme and risk implications of design changes
- Manage design risks across temporary and permanent works
- Support buildability, tender and pre-construction activities
