We are recruiting for an experienced Income & Recovery Officer to join a busy local authority team on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for someone with experience in Council Tax administration, income collection or debt recovery who enjoys delivering excellent customer service and working in a fast-paced environment. The position is primarily remote, with attendance required on the first day for induction.
Key Responsibilities- Manage day-to-day Council Tax enquiries.
- Process discounts, exemptions and account updates.
- Recover outstanding Council Tax and other debts in line with legislation.
- Negotiate payment arrangements with customers.
- Respond to enquiries by telephone, email and in writing.
- Liaise with internal departments and external organisations.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure high standards of customer service.
You will have:
- Previous experience in Council Tax, Revenues, Income Recovery or Debt Recovery.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong administrative and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage a varied workload.
- Experience of Business Rates and MRI software would be an advantage but is not essential.
