Location: Birmingham – B23 Pay: £13.45 per hour PAYE Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break Contract: ASAP – 31 January 2027 Opportunity: Potential extension and possible temp-to-permanent position ## The Role We are recruiting for a reliable and hardworking Van Driver / Waste & Stores Operative to work across NHS Trust and the clients sites throughout the Birmingham area. Based from B23, you will drive a transit-sized van to collect, deliver and dispose of a variety of items and materials between sites. This is a hands-on, physically active role and applicants must be comfortable working within a healthcare environment. ## Key Responsibilities Drive a transit-sized van between sites. Collect and transport clinical, general and electrical waste. Handle bags and containers that may contain clinical waste, including items contaminated with bodily fluids, sharps and medication. Collect, move and deliver furniture and equipment. Pick and deliver stock and supplies. Load and unload vehicles safely. Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects. Clean and valet vehicles when required. Maintain the cleanliness of stores, vehicles and parking areas. Follow all health & safety, infection-control and waste-handling procedures. Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting as required. Work independently while also supporting the wider team. ## Essential Requirements Full clean UK driving licence – essential. Enhanced DBS on the update service required before starting. Candidates without a current Enhanced DBS can still apply; if successful, a new check can be completed before commencement. Comfortable handling and transporting clinical waste. Physically fit and capable of regular lifting and manual handling. Good communication and customer service skills. Reliable, flexible and able to work unsupervised. Strong awareness of health & safety. Willing and able to work at height when required. ## What's Provided PPE and uniform. Monday-to-Friday daytime working. Long-term contract through to January 2027. Potential contract extension. Possible temp-to-permanent opportunity for the right person.
