Location: Ipswich / Hybrid Working

Rate: £227.22 per day

37 hours per week

Initial 3-Month Contract (Rolling Extension Potential)

Hybrid Working – Ideally 1 day per week in the office, although fully remote candidates will be considered. Equipment collection required in person.

Applicants must have a standard DBS and hold a full driving licence.

We are currently recruiting for experienced SEND Coordinators to join Suffolk's Children and Young People Service. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to support the delivery of statutory Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes and ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.

We have four positions available across two area teams.

The Role

As a SEND Coordinator, you will manage a caseload of children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans, ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and high-quality outcomes are achieved. You will work closely with families, educational settings, health professionals and partner agencies to coordinate assessments, annual reviews, placements and funding arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold and manage a caseload of children and young people with EHCPs.
  • Complete draft amendments and final Education, Health and Care Plans following review meetings.
  • Coordinate and oversee annual review processes and associated casework.
  • Manage phase transfer work to ensure statutory deadlines are met.
  • Liaise regularly with families, schools, colleges and partner agencies.
  • Prepare and submit requests to placement and funding panels in line with EHCP provision requirements.
  • Monitor statutory timescales and ensure compliance with SEND legislation and the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Maintain accurate records and case management information.
  • Support effective communication between all stakeholders involved in the EHCP process.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Significant experience working within SEND services, EHCP coordination or SEN casework.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads and working to statutory deadlines.
  • Experience drafting, amending and finalising Education, Health and Care Plans.
  • Excellent written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals and social care services.
  • Ability to work independently in a hybrid or remote environment.
  • Standard DBS check.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience as a SEND Coordinator, SEN Case Officer, EHCP Coordinator, SEND Caseworker or SEN Officer within a local authority.
  • Experience of annual reviews, phase transfers and tribunal-related casework.
  • Knowledge of local authority panel processes relating to placements and funding.
