We are currently recruiting for an experienced Financial Inclusion Officer to join a busy and supportive local authority team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in financial inclusion, welfare benefits, debt advice or housing support who is passionate about helping vulnerable residents improve their financial wellbeing.
The Role
You will manage a caseload of residents experiencing financial hardship, providing practical advice, guidance and support to help them maximise income, access benefits and grants, reduce debt and sustain their housing. Working with a range of partner agencies, you will help individuals achieve long-term financial stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of customers with complex financial needs.
- Provide advice on welfare benefits, budgeting and financial support.
- Support applications for hardship payments, discretionary grants and other funding.
- Help residents maximise household income and reduce financial hardship.
- Work closely with housing providers, debt advisers, Citizens Advice and other support organisations.
- Complete needs assessments and develop tailored action plans.
- Maintain accurate case records and performance information.
- Deliver a high standard of customer service while working to service targets.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience supporting people facing financial hardship.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and financial inclusion services.
- Experience managing a busy caseload.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with customers and partner organisations.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
