Location: Hybrid Working (1–2 days per week on-site)

Rate: £36.10 per hour PAYE plus holiday pay

Hours: 37 hours per week

Contract: 6 Months

DBS: Basic DBS Required

Lynx Employment Services are recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer to support a major highways programme focused on the adoption of historic development sites and the progression of Section 38 and Section 278 agreements. This is an excellent opportunity for a highways professional with strong technical knowledge and experience working within a Local Highway Authority, consultancy, or highways development environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the adoption of historic development sites under Section 38 and Section 278 agreements.
  • Manage technical reviews and ensure compliance with highway standards.
  • Liaise with developers, consultants, contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate site inspections and monitor progress towards adoption.
  • Provide technical advice and support on highways development matters.
  • Assist in clearing a backlog of historic sites and progressing schemes to completion.
Essential Requirements
  • Significant experience dealing with Section 38 and Section 278 agreements.
  • Strong understanding of highway adoption processes and development control.
  • Experience working within highways engineering, transport planning or civil engineering.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work independently.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to attend site visits.
Desirable
  • Previous Local Authority highways experience.
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
