Lynx Employment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of our prestigious client for a dedicated Senior Food and Safety Officer to join their proactive Food and Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to deliver high-quality regulatory services that protect the health and well-being of consumers, citizens, and businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice and guidance in Food Hygiene, Food Standards, and Health and Safety.
  • Carry out inspections, interventions, and investigations across the borough.
  • Take responsibility for the investigation of notifiable infectious diseases and accidents.
  • Plan and deliver enforcement actions, including service notices, formal cautions, and prosecution file preparation.
  • Work closely with the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and ensure full compliance with the Food Law Code of Practice.
  • Conduct sampling, complaint investigations, and compliance monitoring.
  • Lead on specific projects and contribute to the Divisional Service Plan.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to continual service improvement.
  • Liaise with internal Council teams and external partners to ensure consistent regulatory delivery.
Education & Qualifications
  • A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health, or a suitable qualification such as the Higher Certificate in Food Control or the Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control, or equivalent.
  • A further specialist qualification in Food or Health and Safety is desirable, such as an MSc in Food Safety Hygiene and Management or NEBOSH.
  • Professional registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) is essential.

  • Demonstrated experience in food and safety enforcement or environmental health.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable laws, codes of practice, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident in preparing reports, handling evidence, and giving evidence in court when needed.
