We are currently recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority for an experienced Senior Commissioning Officer to join their Adult Social Care commissioning team, with a specific focus on supported living. This is a project-based role supporting the development of supported living contracts, alongside other commissioning projects as required. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing service specifications, engaging with providers, and producing clear, robust business cases to support decision‑making.

The client is looking for someone who can work independently, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, and produce high‑quality written documentation. Strong commissioning experience within a Local Authority Adult Social Care setting is essential.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading and supporting supported living contract development
  • Developing commissioning specifications and options appraisals
  • Engaging with providers and internal stakeholders
  • Preparing business cases, reports and supporting documentation
  • Contributing to wider Adult Social Care commissioning projects as directed
Essential requirements
  • Proven commissioning experience within a Local Authority
  • Strong understanding of Adult Social Care, particularly supported living
  • Experience of provider engagement and contract development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage project-based work with minimal supervision

  • Start date: 12 January 2026
  • End date: 14 June 2026
  • Interviews: Taking place in the New Year
Working arrangements

This is a hybrid role, ideally requiring one day per week in the office. Remote candidates will be considered due to the project‑based nature of the work. Occasional travel to Solihull may be required for stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will be required to drive and have access to their own vehicle.

Pay rates

PAYE: £23.37 – £26.62 per hour. Rates are flexible for the right candidate, ideally within the ranges above. Part‑time arrangements will also be considered for exceptional candidates.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commissioning professional to contribute to meaningful service development within Adult Social Care on a fixed‑term basis.
