Operational Training & Compliance Officer
Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
Contract: 6-Month Temporary Assignment
Pay Rate: £251.11 per day (PAYE)
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Operational Training & Compliance Officer to develop and deliver a structured training and competency programme across Waste Services and the wider operational workforce. Working closely with operational managers, Transport and Health & Safety teams, you will ensure employees are trained, assessed and competent to carry out their duties safely, while improving compliance, reducing risk and promoting a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver operational training programmes and competency frameworks.
- Deliver inductions, driver assessments and refresher training.
- Train staff on safe systems of work, manual handling, vehicle safety and operational procedures.
- Carry out competency assessments for drivers and frontline operational staff.
- Monitor compliance, including tachographs, vehicle checks and training records.
- Deliver toolbox talks and coaching following incidents or legislative changes.
- Support investigations and identify ongoing training needs.
About You
Essential:
- Experience delivering operational or driver training within Waste Services, Fleet, Highways or a similar environment.
- Experience designing training programmes and competency frameworks.
- Knowledge of DVSA guidance, Operator Licence compliance and Health & Safety legislation.
- Strong coaching, communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence (LGV entitlement desirable).
Desirable:
- Driver Assessor/Trainer or Driver CPC Instructor qualification.
- IOSH, NEBOSH or Transport Manager CPC.
- Waste Services or Local Government experience.
