We are seeking an experienced Resolution and Tribunal Officer to support a busy SEND service team on a temporary agency basis. This role involves managing SEND appeal cases, coordinating mediations, and representing the Local Authority at tribunal hearings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee appeals to the First-tier Tribunal, ensuring timely responses and compliance with statutory deadlines
  • Coordinate and facilitate mediation meetings to help resolve disputes where appropriate
  • Represent the Local Authority at tribunal hearings
  • Work closely with parents, carers, young people, legal representatives, advocates, and educational settings
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records and documentation
  • Provide clear communication and professional stakeholder management throughout the process

Role Details

  • Location: Ipswich IP1
  • Directorate: Children and Young People
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Contract Length: 18 May 2026 - 21 August 2026
  • Working Pattern: Ideally 1 day per week in the office, however fully virtual working can be considered
  • IR35 Status: Inside IR35
  • DBS: Enhanced DBS required

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience managing SEND tribunal and mediation cases
  • Possess strong knowledge of SEND legislation and tribunal procedures
  • Be confident representing a Local Authority in formal hearings
  • Have excellent organisational, communication, and record-keeping skills
  • Be able to manage complex caseloads and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders
