Contract: Temporary – 3 months initially
Hours: 37 hours per week, alternating weekly shifts (6:30am–6:00pm)
Lynx Employment Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join a busy workshop team maintaining a fleet of almost 200 vehicles that support essential frontline services. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied fleet including HGVs, refuse collection vehicles (RCVs), sweepers, tankers, vans, tippers and specialist plant, ensuring vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational.
The Role- Carry out servicing, maintenance, repairs and inspections on HGVs, light commercial vehicles and specialist equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and ensure compliance with DVSA and Operator Licence requirements.
- Complete chassis, bodywork and equipment repairs to VOSA standards.
- Attend vehicle breakdowns and provide support across both Redditch and Bromsgrove depots when required.
- Accurately complete workshop documentation and update fleet management systems.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, housekeeping and customer service.
- City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent).
- Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs and commercial vehicles.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- MIG welding experience (coded welding desirable but not essential).
- Experience working on refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, tankers or similar specialist vehicles.
- MOT Tester qualification (Class 4, 5 & 7) desirable.
- VOSA/DVSA inspection knowledge.
- Full LGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
