We are recruiting on behalf of our client in the Solihull area for a Property Solicitor. This is to work on a wide variety of legal work concentrating mainly on land and property matters;

Role Responsibilities

  • To conduct all aspects of legal work relating to land and property, development and landlord and tenant issues.
  • As and when required to attend Council, Cabinet, Committees or meetings and to handle legal and advisory work connected with this.
  • To advise client departments on land and property and highways matters.
  • Recording time worked to charge out to clients.
  • To maintain a caseload in compliance with requirements.
  • Instructing Counsel to act or appear on behalf of the Council in circumstances where the best interests of the Council so requires.
  • Providing support to the Team Leader Property and Contracts.

Education & Qualifications

  • Qualified Legal Executive or Solicitor.
  • Current practising certificate.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge and working experience of commercial property law.
  • Relevant Local Authority experience and knowledge and understanding of current developments affecting local government
  • Experience of drafting complex legal documentation.
  • Undertaking legal research
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook (or equivalent)
  • An understanding of the requirements of Lexcel
  • Use of case management systems
  • Knowledge of highway and planning matters
