We are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Enforcement Lead to support a busy local authority Housing & Vulnerability team. This is a hybrid role offering approximately 2 days per week working from home.
The successful candidate will provide operational leadership across private sector housing enforcement, renters’ rights, homelessness strategy and housing standards, ensuring compliance, service improvement and high-quality delivery across the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day operational leadership and support across the Housing & Vulnerability service
- Lead on complex and specialist housing enforcement cases
- Oversee areas including:
- Private Sector Housing
- HHSRS inspections
- HMO Licensing
- Fire Safety in High Rise Dwellings
- Asylum Accommodation
- Public Health in Housing
- Renters’ Rights implementation and enforcement
- Housing Strategy, Homelessness and Temporary Accommodation
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive experience within Private Sector Housing and Housing Enforcement
- Strong knowledge of housing legislation, HHSRS, HMO licensing and renters’ rights
- Previous operational management or team leadership experience
- Experience managing complex enforcement and compliance cases
- Ability to coach, mentor and support officers within a regulatory environment
- Strong report writing, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Degree or relevant qualification in Environmental Health or equivalent experience
- EHRB registration and/or membership of CIEH, CIH or equivalent professional body desirable
- HHSRS qualification advantageous
- Full UK driving licence required
