We are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Officer to support a local authority property team undertaking inspections and condition surveys across a range of external assets including garages, roads, forecourts, paved areas, brickwork and general street scene infrastructure. This role combines site-based inspections with office-based reporting and would suit candidates with experience in property maintenance, building surveying, inspections, estates maintenance or construction-related environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out condition inspections of garages, roads, forecourts and associated external assets
- Identify defects, dilapidations and maintenance requirements
- Undertake surveys using appropriate inspection and surveying techniques
- Take photographs and gather detailed condition evidence during site visits
- Produce accurate Schedules of Condition and inspection reports
- Prepare spreadsheets and maintenance records to support future works programmes
- Assess asset condition and provide recommendations for repair or maintenance
- Work independently whilst conducting site inspections
- Liaise with administrative and technical colleagues to ensure accurate record keeping
- Ensure inspections are completed in accordance with health and safety requirements
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- HNC or HND in Building Studies, Construction, Surveying or a related discipline, or significant relevant experience (typically 10+ years)
- Experience carrying out property, building or condition inspections
- Knowledge of Schedules of Condition and their practical application
- Understanding of surveying techniques and inspection processes
- Basic knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Ability to produce clear, accurate technical reports and documentation
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and reporting systems
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
