Β£20.66 per hour PAYE We are recruiting for an experienced
Senior Safety & Resilience Officer
to support Waste & Recycling Services on a 3-month temporary contract. This is a hands-on role where you'll ensure health and safety compliance across frontline waste operations, promoting a strong safety culture while supporting operational resilience. ### Key Responsibilities Ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, including COSHH and RIDDOR. Develop and review risk assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and operational procedures. Carry out depot, vehicle, and site inspections, audits, and ride-alongs with collection crews. Investigate accidents, incidents, complaints, and near misses, including CCTV reviews. Deliver toolbox talks and support staff training and competency. Monitor vehicle, equipment, contractor, and agency worker safety compliance. Support emergency planning, wellbeing initiatives, and continuous service improvement. Produce reports, analyse safety data, and provide practical recommendations. ### About You Essential: Experience in a health and safety role within a high-risk operational environment. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation. Experience undertaking risk assessments and incident investigations. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent). Desirable. Experience in waste management, environmental services, or local government. Experience using CCTV for investigations and compliance monitoring.
