Contract: Interim/Agency Contract

We are currently recruiting for an experienced SEN Case Worker to support a local authority based in Shrewsbury. This is a fully remote opportunity offering a competitive £300 per day rate.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 8:45am - 5:00pm
  • Friday: 8:45am - 4:00pm

The Role

You will play a key role in the quality assurance and approval of Proposed Amendment Plans (PAPs), ensuring Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are legally compliant, accurate and issued within statutory timescales. An enhanced DBS for Children's Barred is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality assure all Proposed Amendment Plans prior to issue.
  • Ensure amendments from professionals and educational settings are accurately reflected.
  • Ensure plans are clear, specific and legally compliant.
  • Ensure statutory amendment processes are followed, including notifications, timelines and parental rights.
  • Verify that proposed amendments are appropriately evidenced and justified.
  • Ensure documentation supports decision-making thresholds, including decisions to amend or maintain existing provision where appropriate.
  • Review and validate funding requests arising from Proposed Amendment Plans.
  • Ensure funding uplifts or reductions are evidence-based and aligned to changes in provision.
  • Identify cases requiring panel approval due to financial implications.
  • Prepare robust and defensible funding cases for panel consideration.
  • Approve Proposed Amendment Plans for issue following successful quality assurance and funding checks.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, consistent and audit-ready.
  • Maintain consistency across a high volume of Proposed Amendment Plans.
  • Support efficient turnaround times throughout the amendment process.
  • Work collaboratively with Case Officers and Business Support colleagues to ensure effective workflow progression.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience working within a Local Authority SEN Service.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Code of Practice, and EHCP statutory processes.
  • Experience quality assuring Education, Health and Care Plans, particularly Proposed Amendment Plans.
  • Excellent understanding of Sections B, F and I of EHCPs.
  • Experience reviewing SEN funding requests and preparing cases for panel.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining accuracy and statutory compliance.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
