Working pattern:
Minimum three days per week on site We are recruiting an experienced Design Manager to coordinate and oversee design activities across a portfolio of major electricity transmission projects. The role will involve working across multiple schemes, ensuring design inputs are properly coordinated, technically assured and delivered in line with programme requirements. ### Key responsibilities Develop and maintain design programmes across multiple projects Coordinate design inputs from internal and external engineering teams Monitor progress and implement recovery actions where required Manage technical assurance submissions and gateway approvals Lead design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination meetings Coordinate with project, planning, commercial, procurement and site teams Manage RFIs, technical queries and design information Maintain design change registers and support NEC change control Identify design-related programme, commercial and delivery risks Support buildability reviews and pre-construction planning Promote consistent design processes and lessons learned across the portfolio ### Essential experience At least eight years experience in design management or a related role Experience supporting or managing design across major infrastructure or UK electricity transmission projects Background involving HV substations, overhead lines, cable routes or similar transmission assets Direct familiarity with National Grid standards, processes and assurance pathways Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams across several projects Strong stakeholder management and project leadership skills Able to work on site in Birmingham at least three days per week A relevant engineering, construction or project management qualification would be advantageous.
